News & Updates from May to December 2002

10 December 2002:

Added some screengrabs from an episode of All is Forgiven (1986) here

Added a few more details to the questions section.

I have created a small separate website for the movie Summer School (1987) here. The site was created to see if there really is enough material to warrant an entire website. It's a work in progress and will eventually have screengrabs and more details. Feedback is welcome. There was a site in existence a few years ago developed by others but it is no longer active.

Site has passed 27234+ unique visits

 93 hits from google

1 hit from altavista

1 hit from lycos

1 hit from yahoo

1 hit from looksmart.com

1 hit from msn

Australian viewers might be interested in a contest TV1 is having, details here

According to the imdb, Shawnee provides "imaging voice (Fever 105)" on the Playstation 2 video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City", released on 29 October 2002. If anyone has this videogame and can provide more details, such as where her voice is heard, it would be much appreciated. I may add a sound byte of her contribution to the game on this site. (Thanks to Don Gough for the heads up)

For Australian cable viewers, Becker will be aired 6 nights a week on cable channel TV1, starting on 1 December. More info here. Presumably they will show episodes from season 1 to 4 (thanks to Don Gough for the heads up). Season 5 (current season) will probably start around March [?] 2003 on Ten

Becker has not yet been syndicated in the U.S. in the "stripped" format (5 days a week). Since the series has now passed the magic 100+ episodes, it will probably go into U.S. syndication next year (September 2003).

20 November 2002:

The episode of "The FBI Files" titled "A Model Killer" (60m) about Christopher Wilder (dramatized in Easy Prey (1986)) is scheduled to be rerun on the Discovery Channel in the US on 5 January 2003.

Many of the emails this site receives concern the mistaken identity between Shawnee Smith and other actresses. I have added a "Not Shawnee Smith Gallery" here to distinguish her from some of the other actresses that resemble her.

15 more screengrabs from the current season of Becker here

8 screengrabs from The Shining (1997) here

negative Easy Prey (1986) review, 24 October 1986 here

People Magazine article, 28 November 2000 here

22 October 2002:

A selection of screengrabs from the first 3 episodes of the 5th Season of Becker added here

On 27 February 2001, Shawnee was interviewed on "The Chaunce Hayden Show" at eyada.com, a webcast radio show [site has been shut down].

According to this site: "February 28, 2001 - Shawnee Smith from CBS' Becker was on the Chaunce Hayden show at eYada.com Tuesday recounting an incident on the red carpet for an event where, while trying to get out of the way for Christina Aguilera, members of her entourage physically shoved the actress out of the way."

Interesting developments on Becker according to this article:

"Among the upcoming story lines: ... ditzy nurses' aide Linda (Shawnee Smith) has to keep going to the airport to convince a new boyfriend that she's from out of town." [episode is called "L.A. Woman"]

Site has now passed 21,657+ unique visits, 82 total hits from google

6 October 2002:

Reminder: The 5th season of Becker starts tonight in the U.S. at 7pm central time right after 60 Minutes. I'll probably post a few screengrabs from the episode in a day or so.

Her imdb.com entry has a new photo and more information about her latest feature film, "Never Get Outta the Boat"

Screengrabs from Leaving Las Vegas (1995) here

Gallery section images will be rotated periodically due to limited web space. So if you're collecting them -- get them while they're posted.

Site has passed 17,922+ unique visits, 71 total hits from google.

7 September 2002: Thanks to information from Phil Leirness & Don Gough, the movie "The Party Crashers" featuring Shawnee Smith will be released on DVD on 8 October 2002. The official website has more information here.

I recommend buying from DVDplanet [very reliable company].

Season 5 of Becker starts in the U.S. on Sunday, October 6 at 7pm CST.

Site has passed 15,526+ unique visits, 64 hits from google, 1 hit from msn and 1 hit from yahoo.

Site has passed 11,950+ unique visits, 53 hits from google.

13 July 2002: added screengrabs from the Likely Stories: "Tommy Rispoli" segment she appeared in here, few more additions to the gallery, including her obscured "topless" Becker scene. More images to come.

Site has now passed 7521+ unique visits and is listed in yahoo.com & google.com under several keyword variations.

3 July 2002: Happy Birthday! Shawnee is... well you do the math...  ;-)

Site has passed the 5500+ "unique" visits mark, just 28 hits from groups.google.com

Fixed cover scan of "Steppin' Out" article here, added a fun picture to the main page. In the next few days I will add several items to the gallery section. I will generally try to avoid including pictures that exist on other sites.

25 June 2002: based on a lead from Don Gough (thank you) and contact with this site (thank you, as well), it appears that the "Silver Spoons" episode she appeared in was called "Growing Pains, Part One." I have added the information to the television section. The series was shown within the last few years on Nick-At-Nite in the US, though I haven't seen it recently.

Site has passed the 4150+ "unique" visits mark; just 19 hits specifically from google.com newsgroups search

18 June 2002: This site has received over 2361 unique visits to date.

Some interesting stats from the web log, if it's to be believed, indicate visitors from Australia (9%), Netherlands (4%) and over 30 other countries from every continent except Antarctica. Although I do see several of the same individual visitors many times, there are a number of unique visitors from each of these countries.

Shawnee must have a greater following around the world than I thought. I think Australia is currently showing the 4th season of Becker

I have posted a few images related to I Saw What You Did, Crime of Innocence & Brand New Life from 1988-1990 TV Guides

16 June 2002: the episodes of Hollywood Squares from January 2002 featuring Shawnee Smith are being rerun in daytime syndication in the US this week. Check your local TV listings...
