23 December 2005:

Interview from 25 October 2005 here and here [beware pop-ups]

30 October 2005:

SAW II was released on Friday.

I saw the film last night at my local multiplex. SAW II is a standard, over-the-top, gruesome horror film with enough twists to leave you unconcerned how it all turns out at the end. As with the first film, it is not for the squeamish at all.

Though Shawnee was only in about 10 minutes of the first film, she has a large co-starring role in the sequel. This is largest amount of screen time she's had in a wide-released theatrical film since Desperate Hours in 1990.

There is a chat transcript from 25 October 2005 here in which Shawnee reveals she is about to have a second child.

There is a SAW II blog here

Interview with Shawnee here [beware pop-ups]

23 July 2005:

The Island was released yesterday in the US. I saw the film last night and it is similar to Logan's Run/THX-1138/Gattaca/Vanilla Sky/The Prisoner. The second half is an action picture like The Fugitive/Bad Boys 2, etc.

Shawnee appears briefly in 1 scene as Steve Buscemi's wife. She seems to be a member of director Michael Bay's "stock players company" which includes Michael Clarke Duncan, Steve Buscemi and others.

Never Get Outta The Boat (2002), an independent film about drug addicts, is available on DVD in the US from Columbia/TriStar Video. Shawnee appears in 2 scenes.

There is a tour diary entry and small photo here mentioning that Shawnee attended a Skindred/Korn concert in Los Angeles in 2004.

21 May 2005:

Washington Street does not appear to have been picked up by CBS for the fall season. Mid-season maybe ? CBS 2005-6 schedule here

SAW 2 is currently in production in Toronto, Canada for a US release on 28 October. The official website has a production blog and other items.

NY POST/PAGE SIX... (2 April 2005)
--Shawnee Smith, who plays the receptionist on the TV series "Becker" and was a biker chick in "Leaving Las Vegas," married Christopher Mattoon on Friday at the Little Church of the West. She's 34; he's 31.

Short article from the Los Angeles Times, 11 December 2004 added here

Revised overall font on this site to "Georgia". Changed site email address.

15 February 2005:

SAW is released on DVD in the U.S. today.

There is an interview with the directors of SAW on this site that reveals the possibility that Shawnee may return for the sequel.

Another relaunch of the previous yahoo group here.

5 February 2005:

I have relaunched the yahoo group for discussion of Shawnee Smith here.

If there is sufficient interest, I'll keep it going. The previous yahoo group was deleted for some reason.

The pilot for the new CBS sitcom Washington Street, was filmed on 2 February. TV Tome identifies a March broadcast date. If the show is picked up by the network, it will be Shawnee's 6th TV series to date.

Red Carpet Pictures of Shawnee here [requires subscription to view full size images. Photos may also be purchased from the site.]

SAW is released on Region 1 DVD on 15 February.
